Air cargo from India has grown significantly over the last 13 months. Chargeable weight from India increased +15% compared to May 2023. Yields surged in the same period, showing a +64% YoY increase in May 2024 versus May 2023.
General Cargo and Special Product Categories
Outbound air cargo from India has developed positively for all types of products, except for valuables, dangerous goods, and live animals. The latter three decreased by -1%, -1% and -2% in May 2024 compared to May 2023, whilst the outbound chargeable weight of other product categories ranged from +6% for meat to +19% for flower shipments. General Cargo outperformed special products with a growth of 21% .
Top 10 Growth markets for India
In the first five months of 2024, 10 destination markets with high absolute weight increases from India stand out. For example, growth to Spain more than doubled with growth of +105%. Similarly, outbound air cargo business to the United Kingdom increased +26%, to the USA North East +34%, and Germany +22%.”
